Monthly Artwalk coming to Destin harbor
Simon is also an artist. She designs jewelry, mostly pocket watches, which she sells at various events and from her Facebook account. She said her work is an example of why it's important to have a regular showcase of local artwork.
“Artists always change what they are doing," Simon said. "People aren't always going to see the same things. They aren't going to see the same artists down there. It exposes everybody to something different. I think it's important for adults, as well as children to get to see that. And these are local artists. These are people who live here."
One of those artists is Navarre resident Chuck Chunn. A full-time painter since December 2012, Chunn has displayed his marine-life-inspired work at festivals in Pensacola. It won't take long for the Artwalk to grow into an event that can rival more established arts festivals.
"It's going to grow dramatically," Chunn told The Log. "It's a great venue with a lot of exposure. It's a great opportunity for both Destin and artists. And it's a fun place."
