On Tuesday afternoon. That ‘something’ was revealed recently, and is pretty spectacular: an 18k gold bracelet with flowing, organic effects and all of those pretty little stones—21.65 cts. t.w. of natural color diamonds, as well as 3.48 cts. t.w. of colorless rocks.
The piece took four months to make, and every single individual basket is cast in a color that perfectly compliments the stone it holds; think white gold for the blue and green diamonds, and a warm variation of yellow for the yellow, brown, and orange stones. Finished just a couple of weeks ago, it’s already sold to a buyer in Manhattan. “Every now and then we have a special piece that’s hard to make but very unique, and we call certain store owners to let them know what we have,” says Saketkhou. “The store we sold it to has collectors for clientele, and most of the time, the owner buys from us.”
In fact, Saketkhou’s track record of sales with this particular store is quite good. In the past four years, he’s sold six pieces to its owner, including a boulder opal and gold Spectrum Award winner last year. “As soon as it came back, we packaged it up and shipped it back out within an hour,” he says. So when this diamond bracelet was complete, Saketkhou repeated his winning pattern of snapping a picture and sending it to the store owner, who then forwarded it to his client. “It sold right away,” he says.
